Hay dos tipos de hipervitaminosis A:

  • Aguda: provocada por tomar demasiada vitamina A en un período corto de tiempo.
  • Crónica: sucede cuando hay demasiada vitamina A presente en un período de tiempo más prolongado.

La toxicidad crónica por vitamina A se desarrolla después de tomar demasiada cantidad de esta vitamina durante períodos prolongados.
